| On Friday, October 7,
2005 I attended the meeting with
Mayor Costas, Indiana Excise, and some
of the bar owners who got nailed. Read
my write-up of the proceedings and have a gander
at the eMail exchange I had with Mayor Costas (Select
them from the menu at left) and the images I shot
that night. Did you get the impression I was a bit
ticked off? Well, I had plenty of company. Excise Officer Taylor chats with the VPD Light show courtesy of VPD Incidently, during the course of the email exchange with Costas, I was also communicating with a member of the City Council regarding different matter. I took the opportunity to ask him about the Popcorn Festival raids. He replied, "I believe that the Mayor was behind it, tho it could have been Ed Howe (1st district city council). He was real happy with himself at the meeting on Monday night about it. This mayor is trying to run real people out of Valpo to make more room for the rich. If Jon didn't DO it, he knows who did!! I was told it did come from his office." I am withholding the council man's name. He did not request this, but I think he can speak for himself, if he so chooses. |
It should also be noted that although it seemed clear that Officer Taylor enjoys his job quite thouroughly, it is equally clear that the members of the Valparaiso law enforcement community present at the NST that evening were somewhere between disgusted and put-off by the whole thing and were only there to keep the peace. |
