Bob McCasland for Mayor
VOTE IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION ON MAY 8th ! ! !
Those of you who have visited this site before know we don't appreciate the questionable actions perpetrated
on this city and its citizens by current Mayor Jon Costas. For that reason we are supporting Robert McCasland
for mayor in the upcoming election.
Bob promises to be our full time mayor. This is in sharp contrast to Costas, who is a full time attorney.
Early in his first term as mayor, he closed his own law firm and went to work for the firm owned by one of the major beneficiaries
of the "Redevelopment Projects" we are now paying for.
As our "Full-Time Mayor," Bob promises to be personally available to manage our cities issues. He won't utilize a city administrator
or Neighborhood Advocate, at taxpayer expense, to do his job for him the way Costas does.

DEFEAT JON COSTAS ! !
Bob promises to cut city expenses, starting by firing the consulting firm hired by Costas (for $12,000/month)
used to "manage" the redevelopment projects. Whereas Costas' emphasis is on helping his rich friends get richer by
spending our money on fancy projects to make their property more valuable, Bob McCasland has and will continnue to
represent "we the People". If elected he will turn over the day-to-day operation of his business to his wife and
a reletive so he can devote his FULL TIME to serving as our mayor.
Bob currently serves as fourth district councilman. He believes that under Costas, city government has become
too intrusive in the lives of its citizens. For example, the ban on smoking, while desirable in restaurants, goes
well beyond that and allows certain business to be exempt by paying $50 for a permit to allow smoking. (What a crock!)
Bob voted against this ordinance.
Weighing in against big business and wealthy private concerns manipulating local politics (the way they have under Costas),
McCasland limits contributions to his campaign to a maximum of $100. He makes it clear that City Hall is not for sale.
This emphasizes his commitment to serve ALL citizens of Valparaiso equally.

Mark May 8th on your Calendar ! ! !
This is the first of only two opportunities we will have to dump Jon Costas and get back to a more sane administration.
Do we really want to be known as Naperville East? I don't think so. Having a pretty downtown and a new shopping center is all
well and good, but some of out major streets still need to be repaved and a couple of swamps (like the one behind my house)
need to be drained first.
I urge everyone to VOTE ON MAY 8th. We must defeat Costas in the primary elections. The only other option is to wait for the
November election and vote for the Democratic candidate who has yet to be announced. If you do not know where to vote, you
can call city hall (462-1161) to find out.
